Perlite
Perlite is used as a soil less growing medium or as one of
the components in a soil mix for agriculture or gardening.
Perlite is a volcanic mineral which, when exposed to high
temperatures, increases in volume by a factor of 12. During the production process, the
mineral explodes (like popcorn),

into white, lightweight particles. The weight for a cubic meter of the
substance is approximately 80-120 kg. Each Perlite particle
is composed of closed air cells or bubbles, and creates a particularly large surface area.
|
The surface cavities absorb and retain water. It is then available for use as a
continuous source of nutrients for the roots of the plant.
Perlite's physical structure allows for the creation of air
passages, and provides the plant with optimal aeration conditions.
Perlite is obtainable in different sized packs according to
the grower's requirements.
The advantages of Perlite:
Improves aeration and drainage.
Maintains the moisture content of the growing medium.
More readily accessible nutrients.
Neutral Ph 6.5-7.5
Insulation which protects the roots against fluctuations in temperature.
Does not absorb heat.
Sterile and free of weeds and diseases.
Clean, odorless, lightweight and easy to use.
Shacham Givat Ada supplies Perlite on its own for agriculture
and gardening. Perlite may be added to other organic matter
such as peat or compost. Available in 100 liter bags or giant bags of 1-1.5 cubic meter.
